Collaborative playlist creation simplified. (Winner, AngelHack 2015)
Shared playlists are fun, but come with their own set of problems. Who decides which songs are on the playlist? Who’s in charge of playback? Who decides which songs to skip? Enter Skipr - a crowdsourced DJ.
Users can join a room with friends and quickly vote on songs using a swipe-card interface. As votes come in, Skipr automatically tallies them, cues up songs and switches to new tracks.
Skipr consists of an Android app and a Python backend, which both leverage the Spotify API to provide a music database and playback functionality.
Skipr was built with Navjot Panesar and Alvin Joys at AngelHack 2015 Toronto, and won the IBM Bluemix Award for most innovative use of IBM Bluemix.
